Unions in Cambridge

Trade Unions are organisations with members who negotiate their pay and working conditions with their employers together in order to get a fair deal. They bring democracy into the workplace.

Joining a trade union is good for you, because it improves your job security & working conditions, and it's good for everyone because stronger trade unions can get better terms for their members as a collective.

A trade union's activities can be identified as either 'servicing' or 'organising' its members.

Services are when the union works for its members and provides them with benefits like improvements or protections at work. (As an active union member, you can also help other union members by helping with other members.)

Organising is when trade unions empower workers to change our own workplaces, improve our own conditions or campaign on other issues.
